Abstract :
By using the difference of the scattering mechanism from targets, SAR polarimetry has very high potential to detect the natural disaster damaged areas. This is a very important advantage of using SAR polarimetry compared to the SAR interferometry, because we do not need the SAR images before the event. We demonstrated that the tsunami damaged area can be determined by using polarimetric SAR images in Ishinomaki city, which is strongly damaged by 3.11 earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
