Abstract
We have developed the simulation of SAR images for moving ocean surface to support sea surface observations. The simulation is designed to be based on the Bragg scattering theory, which is a dominant component of microwave backscattering from the sea surface. In this paper, an algorithm of wave height estimation for SAR images is evaluated by using the simulated SAR image. The algorithm is applied to one ocean wave traveling to the range direction. The accuracy of the retrieved wave height is examined by comparing to the numerical ocean wave.
