Abstract
As science evolves, there will be increasingly developed models and methods that unite disciplines. Health care improvement in Romania is a major challenge for all actors, in order to limit the brain drain of medical and technical specialists and develop models of interdisciplinary research. The purpose of this article is to present an example of academic interdisciplinary engineering-medical research, and in a further step of the linkage to technology transfer and production, to describe the efforts to foster interdisciplinarity, and present a pilot project for a tool to reunite the R&D-stakeholders, including the channels of technology transfer. The mentioned tool is a Virtual Research Center (VRC), a platform that allows remote communication and knowledge exchange and creation among researcher teams, exemplified by two research projects, as PhD-theses: an electro-magnetic actuated vibrating platform for the therapy of osteoporosis and a customized acetabular cage.
