Abstract :
This paper presents a new method to harmonics elimination in AC electric railway system by single-phase active filter. In order to create the virtual phase, the Hilbert transform is employed and single-phase system transformed to two-phase symmetrical system. In this study, AC electric railway system consists of the Scott-transformer, autotransformer, the running rails, feeders and catenary. It is considered an electric railway system with balanced loads. The traction systems are utilized PWM converter drives. After obtaining the models of the fundamental elements that describing the AC electric railway system, the simulations carried out via MATLAB/Simulink and the result of simulations illustrated that the new method in single-phase AC railway system is more effective than the other methods.
