Abstract
Electric power from wind energy systems is considered as an important generation alternative in the electric power systems, around the whole world. A measure of the wind energy performance is given by the annual energy production, as well as the capacity factor value. In the paper, a probabilistic model is used to evaluate the main effects of wind profile in the energy system performance. The probabilistic model evaluates the capacity factor values, based on the power curve of wind turbine and the Weibull distribution of wind speed. This model is involved in an analysis of the effects of various wind profiles, characterized by different shape and scale parameters, in the capacity factor values, analyzing their sensitivity to the Weibull parameters.
