Abstract :
Apple´s iPad has been widely adopted in the medical care area. In this paper, an iPad Clinical Information System (iCIS) is provided to access medical data on hospital database server over a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Meanwhile, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure together with web service technology makes the distributed and fragmented medical data accessible through iPad. In the clinical setting, physicians can look up patients´ medical data with iCIS at anytime and anywhere. Clinical trials show that iCIS can optimize the workflow of physician, reduce medical errors, and improve the efficiency and quality of medical care.
