Abstract
An error-resilient video transcoding scheme is proposed in this paper, which dynamically chooses the proper redundant coding mode for the protection. To improve the efficiency of the bitrate increase, the redundant coding mode is determined dynamically by the rate-distortion performance calculation and the region-of-interest location. According to different scenarios, different numbers and locations of redundant slices are utilized. If needed, the redundant slice is generated by the entropy coding and embedded into the bit stream. Experiments demonstrate that new bit stream´s quality can be improved by the proposal when transmitted in the unreliable environment.
