Abstract :
Video contains rich information in both the spatial and temporal domains. A single video consists of a number of frames, which are composed of a set of regions. The regions may have changed in location, scale or orientation. A salient region is defined as any region which is highly distinct from its surroundings and therefore easily found in a binary partition tree (BPT). Salient regions which are consistently observed during the sequence can be classed as temporally salient. By rank ordering saliency and then rank ordering the ease with which regions are identified in the temporal domain, a powerful tool for higher level cognition results.
