Abstract :
The radiation patterns of a dipole at the interface of a general anisotropic medium and air is calculated using the Lorentz reciprocity method. It is shown that by using a homogenous Epsilon Near Zero (ENZ) material, one can obtain interesting shaped radiation patterns in air which were previously attainable only inside a dielectric of high permittivity. In such cases the radiation in air is much stronger than in the ENZ media. Anisotropic ENZs which can be more readily attained in practice, are shown to also yield similar radiation patterns realized in air.
