Abstract :
A novel and flexible model of Non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) surface-wire junction with hybrid low- and higher-order basis function is presented. This junction model consists of a wire segment and a set of triangles which are constructed from the local geometric characteristic of the NURBS surface and overlap part of the NURBS surface. The proposed junction model is floating and can be flexibly placed at any position on the NURBS surface. Numerical results show the good accuracy of this junction model, and the number of unknowns and CPU time can be significantly reduced.
