Abstract :
An efficient procedure for automated design optimization of ultra-wideband (UWB) antennas is discussed. The presented approach exploits variable-fidelity electromagnetic (EM) simulations, as well as a fast algorithm for optimizing antenna EM models that utilizes local response surface approximations. A transition from lower- to higher-fidelity model is based on the capability of a given model to improve the current design. Our considerations are illustrated through the design of two UWB antenna structures.
