Abstract :
This paper presents the novel design of a dual-band phased array antenna system based on Butler Matrix networks. To realize the dual-band operation, the proposed phased array antenna system is composed of dual-band Butler matrix networks and dual-band antenna arrays. For verification purposes, a phased array antenna based on a dual-band 4×4 Butler matrix is designed. As a result, four unique radiation beams can be generated at 5GHz and 8GHz, respectively. Both simulation and measurement results agree well with the proposed design theory.
