Abstract
Quality (Q)-factor analysis of reflectarray unit cells is extended to predict performance under parallel plate waveguide excitation, corresponding to normal incidence. Q factors obtained from parallel plate waveguide (PPWG) are compared with rectangular metallic waveguide (RWG), different coupling conditions are discussed, and loss performance is analyzed. A case study illustrates the effects of the TEM and TE10 modes of excitation, which represent plane waves with different incident angles, on reflection properties of unit cells.
