Abstract :
Impedance matching is important for small antenna tuning. In this paper we propose a reconfigurable double stub tuner using commercial MEMS capacitive switches. These MEMS switches reconfigure a bank of capacitors placed at the end of stubs for impedance matching. Specifically, a double stub tuner is optimized for tuning across 800-1500MHz. Using an Agilent ADS model for the commercial MEMS capacitor chip, simulations show that this double stub tuner can cover a wide impedance range tuning (2Ω<;Re(ZL)<;500Ω and - 500Ω<;Im(ZL)<;0Ω) with low insertion loss. The tuner parameters are carefully chosen to enable the proposed tuning range while minimizing insertion losses.
