Abstract :
Most collision risk analyses for the airport surface require aircraft extremity position estimates for fidelity Uncertainty in aircraft dimensions, heading, and reference point can all be significant contributors if surveillance information is translated to a display, additional errors must be taken into account For surface collision risk, metrics based on the minimum time to a potential loss of separation were effective if based on actual separation of extremity positions Aircraft geometry and dimensions affect the Low Closing Time (LCT) metric The well-behaved probability distribution of this metric suggests that extrapolation based on a model PDF could be used to quantify the probability of collision
