Abstract
This paper is devoted to the modeling and simulation of electrical arcs quenching in high voltage circuit breakers using a Matlab-Simulink software tool. The developed model enabled to succeed by a precise manner to the influence of the deionization constant on the conductance evolvement, and the plasma temperature during the arc quenching for two extinguishing mediums: air and SF6. We consider a line breaker 245kV/50kA/50Hz which is used in high voltage substations, and for which several experimental studies have been made. The results of this simulation have been compared to applied measurements.
