Abstract :
This paper presents a new type of linear eddy-current brake for high-acceleration system. One conductive plate is fastened to the moving body and double-side electromagnets are arranged on the two sides of the track. In this paper, the analytical model for this type linear eddy-current brake is established, formulations of brake force are deduced considering the dynamic end effect. The braking characteristics of the brake are obtained. Analytical results agree well with the simulation results using 2D finite element method (FEM). The validity and simplicity of the proposed analytical method is verified.
