Abstract :
This paper describes magnetic design of inductor for DC-DC converter of HEV. Inductor is a simple component. However, there is a gap in order to increase its current capacity of the inductor. In this paper, the magnetic characteristics variation by the gap design is discussed. The magnetic characteristics of inductor are determined only by the gap length in the theory. However, the magnetic characteristics were affected not only by the gap length but also the position of gap and the number of gaps. In this paper, the magnetic characteristics variation by various design of the gap which cannot be explained in the theory will made clear.
