Abstract
The ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) in ships that use electrolytic disinfection needs low-voltage high-current rectifiers with such good performance as high efficiency, galvanic isolation between electric source and electrolysis module unit, light weight and small volume. The proposed rectifier for the BWTS does not only satisfy the above -mentioned features but also has modular output side to supply flexible current and power to the electrolysis module units. In addition it has PWM converter input side to ensure unity power factor at utility source. The paper analyzes the rectifier scheme and suggests the practical design guideline thoroughly in terms of both power circuit and control circuit, and finally verifies it by simulation results.
