Abstract :
Biogas production and power production thereof has grown to 22.8 TWh in 2012. The paper shows how biogas power is sold in the German electricity market, especially concerning direct marketing options. It also highlights the fact that the renewable energies need to be more integrated into the electricity market and provide system services such as balancing power. Promising progress has been made through amendments in legislation, but much lies ahead given the target of 80 % renewable power consumption until 2050.
