Abstract :
This paper investigates a large urban network comprising multiple ring main networks and develops an efficiency plan for various contingency cases with a purpose of reducing the power losses, while ensuring that network constraints such as voltage limits and maximum current carrying capacity of the cables are respected. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, two case studies are carried out on the network using DIgSILENT Power Factory software package. The results obtained are encouraging and its application is recommended.
