Abstract :
A metallic air-gap planar microcavity based on enhanced evanescent waves was constructed from a dielectric/metal/air gap/metal. Modulation of the interference of light through the air gap was performed using a small mechanical variation of the air-gap distance. The demonstration shows that the air-gap distance is controlled in submicron scale.
