Abstract
This paper presents a visible light communication system, focusing mostly on the aspects related with the hardware design and implementation. The designed system is aimed to ensure a highly-reliable communication between a commercial LED-based traffic light and a receiver mounted on a vehicle. Enabling wireless data transfer between the road infrastructure and vehicles has the potential to significantly increase the safety and efficiency of the transportation system. The paper presents the advantages of the proposed system and explains same of the choices made in the implementation process.
