Abstract :
The operation of modern wind power plant is inherently different to that of thermal plant in numerous ways. As more conventional thermal power plant is displaced by wind generation system dynamic performance, as well as the nature of the system services available, are evolving. While developments in wind turbine technology have led to a potential new portfolio of frequency response services, their integration requires attention and coordination to ensure acceptable security standards. In this paper issues which must be addressed in order to allow the successful integration of short-term flexibility services from wind turbines into modern power systems are presented.
