Abstract :
Matrix converters are single stage AC-AC power conversion systems which directly connect a three phase input to a three phase output without any large reactive storage components. Numerous potential benefits of matrix converters have attracted power electronics engineers and researchers all over. This paper proposes a study of three-phase to three-phase matrix converter. Matrix converter is designed & implemented using Venturini modulation technique and the simulation result has been presented in this paper. This algorithm provides unity fundamental displacement factor at the input regardless of the load displacement factor. Also an output filter has been proposed and its effect on performance of the converter has been examined. The filter reduces the harmonic content in the output and ensures stable output. The work has been accomplished by means of Matlab/ Simulink software which makes it possible to simulate complex systems in a simple way within a graphical environment. A complete study of the converter feeding a passive RL load has been carried out. Simulated results are presented to prove the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
