Abstract :
Energy is a resource that needs to be managed effectively and efficiently. The paper presents a fuzzy logic approach that controls the appliances indoors and ensures a secure and flexible environment for the user. The striking feature about this embedded energy management system is its flexibility to suit the user´s changing preferences and life style. Three different modes of control are provided and security is ensured in the DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) mode to avoid tampering with the equipment. Implementing the above proposed idea using fuzzy control logic would reduce the energy consumption. The rules for fuzzy control are formulated and implemented in MATLAB.
