Abstract :
This paper give an overview of Active Electronically Scanned Antenna Technologies implemented in Thales Radar either for Ground, Naval and Airborne applications. Starting with the evolution from mechanical to electronically scanned antenna the paper is describing the current designs within the different Global Business Units of Thales, the key assessments and technologies needed to develop the main elements within the antenna (synthesizer, receivers, transmitters). The future evolution to “full digital AESA antenna” is introduced as a way forward.
