Abstract :
A phase optimization method to achieve an improvement of the radiation performance of a phased array is proposed. In the proposed method, phases are optimized with taking into account the effects of the amplitude and phase errors at every phase shift of phase shifters on the radiation performance. The optimization method is based on the local search and the simulated annealing method. By applying the proposed method to phased arrays, we can achieve more accurate beam forming such as the maximization of antenna gain, deeper and broader null forming, lower sidelobes, and more precise beam pointing. Experimental results to show the effectiveness of the proposed method are presented.
