Abstract :
A fast optimization scheme for the tuning of an antenna with a distributed matching network is proposed. The performances of the loaded radiator are rapidly evaluated starting from the scattering matrix of the unloaded antenna. The presented procedure is also able to evaluate the power dissipated on the resistive elements and hence the overall efficiency of the loaded antenna. This time-saving approach is particularly suitable to be exploited in an optimization process as proved in the test case of a loaded wideband antenna. A prototype of the designed antenna has been manufactured and measured to validate the overall strategy.
