Abstract :
A dual band microstrip dumbbell like slot antenna for wireless communication applications such as WiMAX (3.2-3.8 GHz), WLAN (5.2-5.8 GHz) and satellite communications downlink (3.7-4.2) GHz, uplink (5.925-6.425) GHz, is presented in this paper. The antenna consists of finite ground plane(27.62×22.52 mm2) with dumbbell like slots on the patch with size of 22.82×17.72 mm2 fed by 50O microstrip feed line. This antenna is realized on FR4 epoxy substrate with permittivity 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.002.It has desired antenna characteristics such as return loss better than 10dB, VSWR, gain and radiation pattern at the specified resonant frequencies. The B.W of antenna (band1-31.1%, band2-24%) is greatly improved by optimizing the width and length of the slots. The antenna is simulated using Zeland IE3D 15.10 electromagnetic solver.
