  • Abstract
A solid core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is designed using COMSOL Multiphysics software based on finite element method. The cross section of the PCF is modeled with circular air holes of diameter 0.8 μm and pitch 1 μm. Results for the effective refractive index and dispersion properties of the PCF are presented. For Supercontinuum (SC) generation higher order dispersion terms and nonlinear coefficient of the PCF are calculated. Numerical simulation of SC generation for the proposed PCF is analysed using the generalized nonlinear Schrodinger equation and split step Fourier transform method. The SC generation is observed when the input pulse of femtosecond duration is pumped in the anomalous dispersion regime of the fiber.
