Abstract :
"Garden city” theory, which is a classical and typical "meta planning model", is of great value while the related researches are stagnant. Based on the powerful spatial analysis function of GIS, this research builds digital “garden city” and organizes quantitative analysis and further discussions. The research mainly contains four parts. Firstly the preparative work, including abstracting model objectives and establishing mathematical basis, is conducted, in which the “garden city” theory is transferred into a vector model. Secondly we organized the critical processes consisting of data calculation, physical structure design, model vectorization and calibration according to the original theory. The quantitative calculation and analysis on indicators such as land-use composition and per capita land-use in urban area of “garden city”, which is the core part of the model, are organized in the third part. And the further study and applications are prospected at last. The research approach and methods offered here are of enlightening value and worth popularizing. The digital model breaks the deadlock in studying historical planning theories and provides innovative ideas for the modern urban planning and smart city construction.
