Abstract :
We propose a new wave energy converter that uses ocean wave roll/pitch motions to drive a rotating mass and spin an electric generator. Long life is achieved by sealing all mechanical parts inside a watertight structure and replacing unreliable mechanical springs by a tunable articicial spring, which keeps the system in resonance online with waves. We simulate the system dynamics in realistic ocean conditions to demonstrate performance of the new concept.
