Abstract
In this paper, fuzzy logic-based vertical handoff decision-making algorithm is presented for heterogeneous wireless networks which consist of WLAN, WMAN and WWAN. The parameters which are proposed by multi-criteria vertical handoff algorithm are set as inputs of the proposed pre-selection. According to the situation of network and the status of mobile terminal, an output value is produced. This output value is used to determine whether a handoff process is necessary or not and to select the best candidate access point in the candidate networks. The results show that the proposed model provided better performance in terms of minimizing unnecessary handoffs and higher user satisfaction levels.
