Abstract :
In previous work, the effect of conductivity towards spark discharge on water surface was investigated. The results show a significant difference between tap water and saline solution even with small change in conductivity. In this work, the electrical characteristics of spark discharge on water surface of tap water with conductivity 0.07 S/m were investigated with voltage more than 21 kVpeak. Under constant conductivity and 5 mm air gap, the discharge phenomenon at the air gap and filamentary discharge on water surface are affected by the increase in voltage. The discharge current distribution to grounding electrodes also shows consistency to those differences.
