Abstract :
Summary form only given. Video coding standards: AVS China, H.264/MPEG-4 PART 10, HEVC (high efficiency video coding a.k.a. H.265), VP9 (Google), DIRAC (BBC) and VC-1 (SMPTE) are presented. HEVC is the latest standard developed by ITUT and ISO/IEC. Encoder/decoder functionalities along with advantages/applications are discussed. Open source software, ftp/web sites, standards documents, review papers, conformance bit streams, test sequences, performance (comparison/evaluation) metrics, keynote speeches, tutorials, reflectors and related resources are listed. Research projects at M.S. and Ph.D. levels are outlined.
