  • Abstract
A novel method of generating multi-frequency spectral amplitude code (SAC) labels with a single laser and a Fabry-Perot tunable filter is proposed. A substantial simplification in terms of required optical sources to build a SAC label transmitter is offered by this proposal. SAC label up to 16 frequencies is generated by a single wavelength laser, and the label bit rate is enhanced to 1.25 Gb/s. SAC labeled switching system performance analysis with 40 Gb/s intensity modulation (IM) payload is estimated by computer simulation. Received label and payload qualities are assessed by bit error rate (BER) as a function of received optical power and optical signal-to-noise (OSNR), respectively.
