Abstract
To avoid the dramatic loss of system performance in failure-free or the complicated recovery upon the fault, a quasi-optimistic logging scheme is proposed combining checkpointing with synchronous volatile and asynchronous stable logging based on PWD assumption. Besides the internal interactions among processes, the external interactions with the outside world are encoded in the form of determinants, logged and maintained by the logging mechanism of local mobile support station. The performance of the proposal is evaluated by the extensive simulation. By contrast, the proposal requires a low logging cost in failure-free and a moderate recovery cost.
