Abstract :
VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network) is an emerging technology that attracts researchers, scientists and automakers attention. It is part of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System), which aims to improve road safety and provide comfort for drivers when traveling. VANETs are characterized by a highly dynamic topology that, in addition to changes in vehicle characteristics (Speed, Direction ...), is influenced by their environments (Urban, Rural ...). The latest researches in the field of VANETs are especially concerned by routing and quality of service, and they still in their infancy. In this paper we explore some existing routing protocols and ongoing research with a focus on the advantages and disadvantages of each protocol. This state of art can serve as a basis for the design of a robust and efficient routing protocol suitable for most applications in the field of VANET.
