Abstract
The world demand for energy is emergent and conventional energy sources like coal and petroleum are diminishing, and renewable energy (RE) resources contribute a major role in the future. The most part of the world is blessed with renewable resources particularly solar. Even though a number of renewable energy technologies are now well established around the world, solar central receiver power plant has most promising one for MWe power production. In this paper, an effort has been made to summarize the most important studies on design, embodied energy analysis and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of central receiver solar power plant of 5kW capacity. The detailed study and GHG saving potential is estimated for 5kW solar central receiver power tower (CRPT) which investigated in IES, Anna University Chennai.
