Abstract :
Internet´s services that user accessed are often managed by multiple providers across different administrative domains. The end-to-end performance problems may happened at any domain along the routing path, which contributes to the need for coordination and collaboration network management across independent network domains. While in the current Internet management architecture, coordination across management domains exists only on a very limited scale because of lack of collaborative scheme which used for cross-domain management information sharing. In this paper, we propose a SIP based scheme for collaborative autonomic network management. We leverage the architecture of SIP protocol to create, modify, and terminate collaborative network management sessions across independent network domains and use XML to depict exchanged network management information. A prototyping system as well as a collaborative active measurement application is now implemented and deployed in several campus domain networks. The stable operation of the scheme shows the applicability of the architecture for collaborative autonomic network management.
