Abstract :
In A Thin film Proton Recoil spectrometer is being developed in view of ITER diagnostics. The recoil proton spectrometer consists of a thin LaBr3 scintillating crystal (Ø 1" × 2.5 mm) coupled to an array of 12 Silicon Photomultipliers connected in parallel. The dependence of the energy resolution on the bias voltage and the geometrical efficiency of the SiPMs has been investigated illuminating with gamma sources a similar LaBr3 crystal (Ø 1" × 1") coupled to two arrays of 5 and 12 elements, respectively. A resolution of less than 9% FWHM on the 137Cs 662keV peak has been obtained with the 12 elements array. Measurements to assess the LaBr3 light yield in response to protons have been performed and presented.
