Abstract :
In this paper, we determine accurate expressions for the probability of success of handshake-type network mechanisms in a wireless ad hoc network modelled by a Poisson point process. Handshake-type mechanisms form the basis for the implementation of Quality of Service into wireless ad hoc networks (e.g, to guarantee packet delivery). However, to our knowledge, their analysis using a stochastic model has not been yet presented in the literature. In order to address this issue, we consider a deployment model in which the interference situations of both nodes composing a link are defined explicitly. Our results, verified by comparison to simulated data, find applications in the joint design of Medium Access Control and routing protocols for wireless ad hoc networks.
