            Abstract : 
We demonstrate electro-optical modulation in a silicon-vanadium dioxide hybrid device. A combined effect from applied electric field and Joule heating is used to switch a microscopic vanadium dioxide patch deposited on top of a silicon single-mode ridge waveguide.
