  • Abstract
Video shot boundary detection is the basic part of content-based video retrieval, this paper elaborates the fundamental theory of the video shot boundary, and analyzes several typical shot boundary detection algorithms. Generally speaking, There are two kinds of shot change types: shot abrupt change and shot gradual change. Nowadays, the abrupt shot detection has been able to achieve a good result, but the result of the detection of gradual shot is still unsatisfying. This paper describes several typical algorithms in abrupt shot detection as well as in gradual shot detection. And then compare the results of several kinds of typical shot boundary detection algorithms.
