Abstract :
As the main emitter of CO2, power sector is becoming the primary focus for carbon reduction. However, existing researches mainly focus on power generation side, for example, renewable energies and nuclear, the role grid plays is often ignored. This paper assesses carbon reduction impact of cross-region power transmission in China by establishing a multiregion Integrated Resource Strategic Planning (IRSP) Model, together with scenarios analysis. This paper firstly introduced the IRSP Model based on Efficiency Power Plants; secondly, improved it into a multi-region model which could reflect the role grid played in the system; thirdly, established two scenarios with aggressive renewable development goals and different cross-region transmission capacities, comparing the simulation results of the two scenarios to find its impact on carbon reduction and power sector development; finally, assessment of its impact on power generation capacity and distribution, carbon reduction potential and cost is concluded.
