Abstract
This research represented the collapse of the high voltage wave shape under AC breakdown voltage. This paper observed both polarity cycle of breakdown (positive or negative cycle) and phase angle while breakdown and studied parameter to effect on the phenomenon. The attentive parameters were gap distance and type of gap. Sphere-sphere gap and rod-plane gap were used to investigate experimentation. From experimental results, breakdown signal collapsed on positive cycle only for rod-plane gap and when gap distance was increased, the phase angle increased. For sphere-sphere gap, breakdown signal collapsed on both positive and negative cycle. The gap distance had influence on polarity of cycle while breakdown. Finally, when gap distance was increased, the phase angle increased.
