Abstract :
This paper mainly focused on the processing issues for fabricating fine-scaled PZT/epoxy composites for ultrasonic medical imaging applications. Tape casting technique was utilized for fabricating ceramic and carbon black tapes. The effects of the solid loading on the density of the sintered PZT ceramic wafers were discussed. A 2-2 composite with average PZT element width of 35μm was fabricated and characterized. The PZT volume fraction was ~50%. The kt was calculated to be 0.62.
