Abstract :
In this paper, the viscous effect has been introduced into inertial entropy (IEn) theory and the generalized thermo-visco-electic-elasticity theory for pyroelectric materials has been obtained. The thermal shock problems for pyroelectric materials in the absence or presence of heat sources have been studied and discussed using IEn theory and Kaliski-Lord-Shulman (KLS) theory, respectively. Using Laplace transform technique, we formulate the state space approach to problems of thermo-visco-electric-elasticity. Applying numerical method for the inversion of the Laplace transforms, the distributions of stress and temperature have been obtained for IEn theory and KLS theory. The present study shows that the IEn theory is rather appropriate for the temperature shock problems with or without heat source. However, for the heat sources shock problem, the temperature distribution from KLS theory is puzzling.
