Abstract :
An analytical approach based on FEA to verify the clamp arm structure design was proposed. This method utilizes CATIA analysis module to carry out the strength analysis of the geometric model of clamp arm created in CATIA. It avoids the data exception in convert process which will affect the final FEA results and gets more accurate results compared to empire equations. Based on this method, a strength analysis tool was developed. This tool exceeds traditional FEA with its shorter computation time and batch analysis. The designers can evaluate the validity of the structure design according to the strength analysis results under given conditions. Finally, an appropriate dimension under given load and a withstanding force under given dimension are found out. General designers without professional skills can analyze the FEA results derived from the tool to verify the structure design. The tool aimed at strength analysis of specific product is proved effective at facilitating the arm design efficiency.
